At 2 Fish we’re all about local businesses. We cater exclusively to the needs of independent businesses, helping them grow and succeed in a marketplace increasingly dominated by larger regional and national corporations with more money and buying power. You see, it is our belief that independent businesses are the heart and soul of our nation and our local economies, and to allow these chains and “big box” stores to dominate our landscape is to allow the uniqueness of America’s heritage to be lost, and to expedite the degradation of our society and communities. So we decided to do something about it…

2 FISH GROUP: The Beginning

Dustin Burchnall is a graduate of Kutztown University’s Communication Design program, with a concentration in graphic and advertising design. He graduated in 2003, and, until one fateful day in October of 2005, was working as a freelance graphic designer in the Brandywine Valley while running a successful automotive detailing company that he started in 1997.

Matt Ousdahl graduated from Liberty University in 2002. He has a background in bank management and a knack for creative thinking and all things technical. Originally from California, he now happily calls the Brandywine Valley home along with his wife and family.

After Dustin and Matt had discussed their pasts, the conversation turned to the future: where they saw themselves in the years to come, what they wanted to accomplish, etc. Shortly thereafter, Dustin and Matt agreed upon a partnership and began drafting a plan for the area’s first quality controlled, online business directory exclusively featuring independent businesses: the Brandywine A-List.

After a very successful first year and a half, 2 Fish Group was born. It was created to serve as the parent company that oversees all operations of the company including creation of other online directories, merchant associations, fundraising programs, customer loyalty programs, and more, as well as all graphic and web design services.

Our plan for the future is somewhat unknown. Of course, we have more than a few ideas of projects we would like to tackle, businesses we would like to help, and business concepts we would like to develop. But during our journey that has brought us here, we’ve learned a very important lesson: ultimately, we do not plan what direction our lives will take. We simply must work with the ideas and skills we have been blessed with, and do our best to make a positive difference in the lives of the people we encounter along the way.
